Silence sounds like nature
Lilies on the pond open to the sun
Butterflies burst out from chrysalises.
Flies hatch discarding their pupae
Opening, birth, short-lived mirth.
Winged creatures learning to fly
Distracted in mirrored reflections.
Fishes surface kissing Adam’s ale
Suck insects into aquatic black holes.
Ants rush out from beneath a stone
March in time, one behind the other
Up and over making leaves bridges
Working together to build, they’re clever.
Stop, stand, sit or lie down
Do it for long enough,
Listen to the silence
There’s much much more
You’ll hear and see.
